MY LOC CARE REGIME

Hello!

I am extremely excited to write today as I got to hold my short locs in a tiny ponytail for the first time since I started my second set of locs.

My friends and I were laughing when I said that trying to hold short hair in a ponytail is like trying to force a relationship.Lol my ribs are still hurting.Haha.

Enough about me, how are you today? I hope you are well and keeping that positive energy alive in you.

So how is your Loc care routine like? Mine is as simple as abc.

*Shampoo

I use the Alana anti- dandruff shampoo. It has a sweet smell and leaves your scalp dandruff free.

-I also use Zoe apple shampoo

*Conditioner

Olive oil ( Nourishing sheen spray). It provides natural, healthy shine to dry and thirsty hair.

*Oils.

Coconut oil

This is my favourite oil. It stimulates hair growth and reduces itching. I also use it to massage my scalp. Scalp massage increases blood flow to your scalp which results in hair growth.

*Royal beeswax

NB. This is not wax/ moulding gel.

It is used for the scalp. It protects the hair and the scalp. It is teriffic for pressing  locs. Apply on the scalp and massage through your locs for that relieving cool effect. Its also reduces itching.

*Washing.

I wash my locs once a week. It is a healthy practice to wash your locs oftenly. Contrary to the popular belief that locs should not be washed, clean hair is healthy hair.

Well, I will let you know incase I change my loc care routine. I gotta go for now. Mmwah!

Yours Loc head,

Mesh.

TREATMENT AND CONDITIONING

Hey loves! I feel so jelous of my locs today. They got so much attention from me!From massage, dye, conditioning, masking and just letting it relax. They must be super happy today!! Having blonde hair has been my thing for years. It defines my hair and me as a person. But one tricky thing with hair dye is that it can easily damage your locs. Your locs become dry and prone to breakage. You can avoid all this misfortunes by conditioning and moisturizing your locs properly. Dyed locs require extra care or else they will start thinning or even falling off!! Just to break it down for you, this is how I treated and conditioned my locs after applying dye. *After applying the dye, I rinsed off with cold water and dried my locs with a towel. * I then used nice and lovely treatment (for the first time)- I am trying out new products to see which works best on my locs before I settle on one treatment. * After the treatment I sat under a drier for 10 minutes. Then rinsed it off. *For conditio...

What is the difference between dreadlocs, sisterlocs and brotherlocs?

DREADLOCS Dreadlocs are simply hair that has been matted together and can be formed using various methods. SISTERLOCS They are smaller than dreadlocs and their installation takes longer than that of dreadlocs.Probably twice or thrice longer. BROTHERLOCS Brotherlocs are similar to sisterlocs but are a bit larger although smaller than traditional locs. Can you unlock dreadlocs, sisterlocs and brotherlocs? Some people claim its possible but in real sense its difficult and leads to too much breakage. Most people just chop off their locs when they don't want them anymore. So what kind of locs do you have? Stay blessed!

TO USE WAX OR NOT?

For a long time now, I have been battling with the same question. Many of my clients and friends have also asked me about wax and which is the best method to maintain locs. First of all wax or moulding gel is the most common method of locs maintenance. For the simple reason that it keeps the locs looking neat and smooth. But just like everything else, it has its pros and cons. From a personal experience, using wax in excessive amounts will damage your locs, they will start having build up (the whitish stuff) and it’s really hard to get it out. Your locs will appear untidy and you may even start hating them to the point of wanting to cut them. If you want to use wax for your retouch, please visit your loctitian, he or she will know the right amount of wax to use in retouching your locs and the right way to dry them. If the wax is not dried properly, it will stick to your locs and form build up. Apparently, some fellas opt to retouch their locs on their own as a way of saving money. T...
