How To get rid of razor bumps and ingrown hairs on a beard.

Hello.

Razor bumps and ingrown hairs continue to affect most black men who shave their beard. Any man who shaves his beard will agree with me on this frustration. And as you all know this blog is about dreadlocks, natural hair and home remedies to skin problems. So today lets focus on the boy child.

Razor bumps and ingrown hairs mostly affect black men on their beard and neck area after shave. Also in women who shave the groin area. Ingrown hairs result in midly painful pimples with a barely visible hair curling from the center.

So how can you reduce the itchiness of razor bumps after a shave? How do you get rid of ingrown hairs from your beard?

1. USING A SHARP OBJECT.

This is the most common method of ingrown hair removal. Using a tweezer to get hold of the ingrown hair and pulling it out can help ease the itchiness.

2.EGG MEMBRANE

Remove the membrane from inside an egg shell, put it on the affected are and leave it to dry.Once dry, pull it off and the ingrown hair should come out with it. Repeat this every day till you get the desired result.

3. COLD COMPRESS

It instantly reduces the burning sensations from razor bumps. Put ice cubes in a clean cloth and place it on the area or you can dip the cloth in ice cold water and press it on the area.

4. HOT COMPRESS

Place a towel in hot water and gently press it against the  affected area. This will open up pores and the ingrown hairs will become free.

5. YOGHURT

Yoghurt has anti bacterial properties. It helps in reducing inflammation and swelling on the beard and neck area. Mix 1 1/2 teaspoon of honey with 1 teaspoon of plain yoghurt and apply the mixture on the area. Leave for 15 minutes and wash off with warm water.

6. LEMON JUICE

Its naturally acidic and helps prevent bacteria from colonizing the ingrown hair follicles. It burns when you apply it on the beard after shave but the burning stops after a while. It helps to prevent redness and infection.

7. HONEY

Honey has antibacterial properties that help to cure acne and treat dry skin. It also helps in reducing swelling caused by razor bumps. Apply everyday especially after a shave.

8. ASPRIN

It has an inflammatory property that helps to reduce the swellings and redness of razor bumps. Dissolve a tablet of asprin in a teaspoonful of lukewarm water and apply the paste on the beard and neck area. Leave for 10 minutes and wash your face with lukewarm water. Repeat this everyday after a shave.

You can also make a honey, lemon and sugar scrub to get rid of the bumps.

I hope you will find this helpful.

Lots of love,

Mesh.

So this past two days I have been having a rough time trying to keep my baby locs down. I know, they just want to stay up. So I came up with a few styles to get you through the awkward stages of baby locs.  This is a simple style.Just hold up a few locs at the back then use a head band to hold them in place. You don't have to stress over your one month or two months old locs.   Another style for baby locs is the mohawk. This one is pretty simple too and will go with any outfit for many ocassions.  Another style is using head bands to accesorize. You can have them in different colours. This will go well with starter locs.  You can  also use  a head band with a bow to add style to your locs. Especially if you have thick hair or locs.   You can also simply put a flower on the side to bring a simple ...

TO USE WAX OR NOT?

For a long time now, I have been battling with the same question. Many of my clients and friends have also asked me about wax and which is the best method to maintain locs. First of all wax or moulding gel is the most common method of locs maintenance. For the simple reason that it keeps the locs looking neat and smooth. But just like everything else, it has its pros and cons. From a personal experience, using wax in excessive amounts will damage your locs, they will start having build up (the whitish stuff) and it’s really hard to get it out. Your locs will appear untidy and you may even start hating them to the point of wanting to cut them. If you want to use wax for your retouch, please visit your loctitian, he or she will know the right amount of wax to use in retouching your locs and the right way to dry them. If the wax is not dried properly, it will stick to your locs and form build up. Apparently, some fellas opt to retouch their locs on their own as a way of saving money. T...
