10 Vaseline hacks that you should know.

Hey there

We have all grown up using vaseline in one way or another. Either as babies or before we knew about lotions and creams. If you are a mom you know that vaseline can be used to prevent diaper rash.If you have had a common cold you know that vaseline is applied on the nose to prevent your nose from getting sore. You also know that when you cut or burn yourself in the kitchen you apply vaseline on the affected area to prevent infection. This shows that indeed vaselise is a 'power jelly'

However, there are other several uses of VASELINE that you may or may not know.

1. Removing matte lipstick

If you have tried using huddah, sleek, black opal, kylie and afeiya matte lipsticks/ lipgloss (among others), you will know that they are sticky and stubborn to come off. Simply apply vaseline on your lips then use a cloth or tissue to wipe it off, the lipstick clears intantly.

2.Vaseline as a  Facial moisturizer.

No, vaseline does not clog pores. It is a non- comedogenic (meaning it does not cause black heads by blocking the pores of the skin) and is very effective in moisturizing your face.

3.Vaseline for eyebrows

For eyebrows that require a trim or get unruly, dab a little vaseline on each brow to keep them in line.

4. Vaseline as a eyelash glue remover.

If you are a fan of adding false lashes to your real ones, avoid pulling off the real ones when getting the false ones out. Dab a little vaseline on your thumb and use it to unstick the glue.

5. Extend perfume/ deodorant staying power.

If you sweat a  lot or your perfume just won't stay for as long as you want it to, apply a little vaseline on the area e.g wrist, neck, armpits depends on you.

6. To open nail polish when the lid is stuck

When you use your favourite polish and find it hard to open it the next time, apply a little vaseline on the lid after using it. This will make it easier to open it the next time. This applies to all things with screw lids.

7. To remove candle wax stains

Candle wax stains can be irritating. Apply some vaseline on the candle wax stained surface, let it sink in for a minute or two then wipe off with a cloth.

8. Vaseline to treat dry feet.

Vaseline is excellent in treating dry feet and cracked heels. Rub your feet with vaseline and put on a pair of socks overnight. Your feet will be very soft.

9. Softens dry and cracked elbows.

Rub a small amount of vaseline on your elbows to keep them soft.

10. To treat dry lips

Rub a small amount of vaseline on your lips to prevent them from drying out or cracking. It works wonders.

TREATMENT AND CONDITIONING

Hey loves! I feel so jelous of my locs today. They got so much attention from me!From massage, dye, conditioning, masking and just letting it relax. They must be super happy today!! Having blonde hair has been my thing for years. It defines my hair and me as a person. But one tricky thing with hair dye is that it can easily damage your locs. Your locs become dry and prone to breakage. You can avoid all this misfortunes by conditioning and moisturizing your locs properly. Dyed locs require extra care or else they will start thinning or even falling off!! Just to break it down for you, this is how I treated and conditioned my locs after applying dye. *After applying the dye, I rinsed off with cold water and dried my locs with a towel. * I then used nice and lovely treatment (for the first time)- I am trying out new products to see which works best on my locs before I settle on one treatment. * After the treatment I sat under a drier for 10 minutes. Then rinsed it off. *For conditio...

What is the difference between dreadlocs, sisterlocs and brotherlocs?

DREADLOCS Dreadlocs are simply hair that has been matted together and can be formed using various methods. SISTERLOCS They are smaller than dreadlocs and their installation takes longer than that of dreadlocs.Probably twice or thrice longer. BROTHERLOCS Brotherlocs are similar to sisterlocs but are a bit larger although smaller than traditional locs. Can you unlock dreadlocs, sisterlocs and brotherlocs? Some people claim its possible but in real sense its difficult and leads to too much breakage. Most people just chop off their locs when they don't want them anymore. So what kind of locs do you have? Stay blessed!

TO USE WAX OR NOT?

For a long time now, I have been battling with the same question. Many of my clients and friends have also asked me about wax and which is the best method to maintain locs. First of all wax or moulding gel is the most common method of locs maintenance. For the simple reason that it keeps the locs looking neat and smooth. But just like everything else, it has its pros and cons. From a personal experience, using wax in excessive amounts will damage your locs, they will start having build up (the whitish stuff) and it’s really hard to get it out. Your locs will appear untidy and you may even start hating them to the point of wanting to cut them. If you want to use wax for your retouch, please visit your loctitian, he or she will know the right amount of wax to use in retouching your locs and the right way to dry them. If the wax is not dried properly, it will stick to your locs and form build up. Apparently, some fellas opt to retouch their locs on their own as a way of saving money. T...
