PRODUCT REVIEW

Are you holiday hangovered like I am? Damn, if only we could rewind time!! But I thank God we made it this far in one piece.

So,when I went shopping for my hair products last week ,I came across two products that have really been effective on my locs. They are:

*STYLIN DREDZ CONDITIONING SPRAY MOISTURE SPLASH

If you have bristle dry hair, this one will work perfectly for your locs. It is enriched with softeners that help to soften your hair hence protecting it against damage. The conditioning spray restores moisture to your locs and soothes dry scalp.

Among its constituents are water, glycerin and castor oil all which are good for moisture restoration and for protecting your hair against damage.

It also has a very sweet smell.

You can get it in most supermarkets and in bestlady cosmetics shops.

*STYLIN DREDS SPRAY SHAMPOO WITH TEA TREE

This shampoo is very easy on your hair and it has a very sweet smell. It is enriched with tea tree which is very essential in hair growth by unclogging hair follicles and nourishing your roots.

You can get it in most supermarkets and bestlady cosmetics shops.

When I dreaded my hair in 2012, I did not know that there are actually dreadlocs products apart from the moulding gels . I ddn't know that you are supposed to moisturize locs oftenly, wash them with a good shampoo and care for them. Basically there are alot of dos and don'ts.This resulted to my locs having a lot of lint and build up and my scalp was always dry and itchy.

But after cutting them and starting them over this year, Im really excited to share all I have learnt about dreadlocs with you.Their maintenance, styling and overall journey to healthier locs. (Below are my new locs after cutting the old ones). You can tell the difference, the new ones look healthier, moisturized, thicker, happier, full of life and calm. The older ones are dull, dry, full of lint and unhappy. So I am really glad I started over, no regrets.

Do you have products that you are currently using on your locs? Let me know about them and will probably review them sometime!

Happy holidays!!

TREATMENT AND CONDITIONING

Hey loves! I feel so jelous of my locs today. They got so much attention from me!From massage, dye, conditioning, masking and just letting it relax. They must be super happy today!! Having blonde hair has been my thing for years. It defines my hair and me as a person. But one tricky thing with hair dye is that it can easily damage your locs. Your locs become dry and prone to breakage. You can avoid all this misfortunes by conditioning and moisturizing your locs properly. Dyed locs require extra care or else they will start thinning or even falling off!! Just to break it down for you, this is how I treated and conditioned my locs after applying dye. *After applying the dye, I rinsed off with cold water and dried my locs with a towel. * I then used nice and lovely treatment (for the first time)- I am trying out new products to see which works best on my locs before I settle on one treatment. * After the treatment I sat under a drier for 10 minutes. Then rinsed it off. *For conditio...

What is the difference between dreadlocs, sisterlocs and brotherlocs?

DREADLOCS Dreadlocs are simply hair that has been matted together and can be formed using various methods. SISTERLOCS They are smaller than dreadlocs and their installation takes longer than that of dreadlocs.Probably twice or thrice longer. BROTHERLOCS Brotherlocs are similar to sisterlocs but are a bit larger although smaller than traditional locs. Can you unlock dreadlocs, sisterlocs and brotherlocs? Some people claim its possible but in real sense its difficult and leads to too much breakage. Most people just chop off their locs when they don't want them anymore. So what kind of locs do you have? Stay blessed!

TO USE WAX OR NOT?

For a long time now, I have been battling with the same question. Many of my clients and friends have also asked me about wax and which is the best method to maintain locs. First of all wax or moulding gel is the most common method of locs maintenance. For the simple reason that it keeps the locs looking neat and smooth. But just like everything else, it has its pros and cons. From a personal experience, using wax in excessive amounts will damage your locs, they will start having build up (the whitish stuff) and it’s really hard to get it out. Your locs will appear untidy and you may even start hating them to the point of wanting to cut them. If you want to use wax for your retouch, please visit your loctitian, he or she will know the right amount of wax to use in retouching your locs and the right way to dry them. If the wax is not dried properly, it will stick to your locs and form build up. Apparently, some fellas opt to retouch their locs on their own as a way of saving money. T...
